Need A Bit More Than A Fee-Inspired Dreamer?

Born in Chicago, IL to first-generation immigrants from Thailand, Mae first came to Berea 23 years ago to attend Berea College. Upon graduation, Mae served in the AmeriCorps program in Pikeville, at the YWCA Spouse Abuse Center in Lexington, and at a refugee resettlement center in Raleigh, NC. She spent 8 years working as a civil rights investigator for the Lexington Fayette Urban County Human Rights Commission and the North Carolina Human Relations Commission. After a 5-year residency in Raleigh, NC, Mae followed her heart back to Berea, where she served as Alumni Director of Berea College for 9 years. In 2012, Mae left the College to become Executive Director of the Bluegrass Rape Crisis Center, a non-profit organization whose mission is to eliminate sexual violence in 17 counties (including Madison) in central Kentucky. Mae shares a residence in the South Berea district with her husband, who is a Richmond native, their 6-year old son, and her parents. Mae has a B.A. in Psychology from Berea College and an M.A. in Community Counseling from Eastern Kentucky University.
